Day Trip to Monterey and Carmel from San Francisco

Discover one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world as you travel along Highway 1 to historic Monterey and laid back Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Follow the winding Highway 1 along the stunning California coastline which features one spectacular view after another. The route takes you through the surf town of Santa Cruz and on to historic Monterey. Here you visit Steinbeck’s Cannery Row and there is time to to enter Monterey Bay Aquarium (additional cost, payable locally) which houses more than 250,000 creatures in over 200 spectacular galleries and exhibits, including a walk-through aviary, three story kelp forest and a million gallon Outer Bay display.

Afterwards, drive along famous 17 mile drive and see Pebble Beach Golf Course, the Lone Pine and some of the best coastal vistas in the world. Enjoy a short stop in the gallery /restaurant district of Carmel-by-the-Sea before passing through futuristic Silicon Valley, the high tech capital of the world.
